A. Burton Shuford, Attorney at Law
In 2010 Burt Shuford joined The Bain Group as of counsel. Burt has practiced law in Charlotte since 1981. He attended Wake Forest University and then law school at the University of North Carolina, graduating from law school in 1981. After his graduation from law school, Burt returned to Charlotte to practice law.
For over 25 years, Burt has concentrated his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, debtor-creditor law and commercial litigation. Burt has represented debtors, creditors and trustees in his bankruptcy practice. In representing debtors, Burt has handled Chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases for a wide range of individuals and companies over his years of practice. He has also represented numerous creditors before the Bankruptcy Court handling matters such as motions for relief from the stay, filing claims and a many other creditor related issues. Burt was appointed to the panel of trustees for the Western District of North Carolina in 1989. He has handled over 4000 cases as trustee. In addition to serving as trustee, Burt has represented other bankruptcy trustees before the Bankruptcy Court. Finally, Burt has employed the skills learned in the bankruptcy arena in non-bankruptcy litigation by serving as a receiver in several state court proceedings.
Burt is a lifelong resident of the Charlotte area, is married to Pam, has four children and two grand children.
